Spring Householder Retreat

all meditations will be led by Jon and Upayadhi for 7 days

What is it?
This is a way to go on retreat… from your own home! Most of us are not forest renunciants and monastics, or able to easily peel away from our circumstances. We are what the Buddhist tradition calls “householders” (upassikas), in that we have worldly lives and responsibilities. This is highly flexible online retreat format that integrates with our daily lives, and allow for a chance to go deeper, with the support and momentum of community.

What’s the schedule?
Come for as little or as much as you can. It also fully integrates the S2M Community sits that happen everyday ay 7am and 8am EST. All times are EST. You can join on May 17th for the whole day as an All Day.

Sunday May 17th (Kicks of the retreat and/or is it’s own All Day!)
7am silent sit
8am guided sit
10am-12pm Morning Session (meditation, intro to the retreat, Q&A, mindful walk)
3pm-5pm Afternoon Session (meditation, dharma talk, small groups, Q&A)
8pm-9pm Evening Ritual (short meditation, ritual with chanting)

Monday May 18th - Thursday May 21st
7-7:40am silent sit led by Jon & Upayadhi
8-8:30am guided sit led by Jon & Upayadhi
8:30-8:50 morning Dharma reflection led by Jon & Upayadhi
12:30-1:30 lunchtime come and go virtual vihara (led by the team)
7pm-8:30pm Community Check-in, Evening Meditation and Ritual (chanting!)

Friday 22nd
7-7:40am silent sit led by Jon & Upayadhi
8-8:30am guided sit led by Jon & Upayadhi
8:35-9:30 Large Community Listening Circle
12:30-1:30 lunchtime come and go virtual vihara (led by the team)
7pm-8:30pm Evening Meditation and Ritual (chanting!)

Sat 23rd

Who is it for?
Anyone with some experience of meditation, from beginner to advanced.

What if I am new to meditation (or think I can’t meditate!)?
You can book Jon for 1:1 beginner instruction at any time or take one of his meditation courses.

What if I can’t come every day?
We love you anyway (and no one is taking attendance)! Just show up when you can and don’t worry about it. You are glorious!

What does this cost?
We will record the Daily 8am Guided Meditation, Morning Dharma reflections and Dharma talks. We will not record the rituals, community check-ins or listening circle. For Q&A sessions, community members can decide if they want to be recorded or not.

Can I invite a friend?
Would would love that! Just forward them this page for all the deets.

Will it be recorded? Can I follow along at my own schedule? Yes!

How do I join? How do I get the recordings?
If you are already a member of Space2Meditate, just use the same Zoom link as usual.

If you are new to us, we welcome you to join. You can do this for just 7 days and then cancel your membership when the challenge is over. Membership contributions range from $0 to $250 a month, depending on your financial situation and how you prefer to practice mutual support and generosity. Everyone is welcome no matter their ability to contribute financially. Just sign up and you will have access to the link and other resources on the site.
